The crown is round and domed in the shape of the cupola of St. Peter's Basilica, the symbol of the Vatican. The emblem on the clip is based on the successor mark of the Vatican City 2000 Celebration Committee, and the body has a ring of the uncanthus pattern of the Great Door of St. Peter's Basilica. The mother-of-pearl model is a gem with the entire body barrel wrapped in mother-of-pearl in a wonderful lacquer technique.
